Relax, Refresh & Renew
Heatree
House is set in beautiful countryside in South Dartmoor, between
Maniton and Widecombe. The Heatree estate is adjacent to the open
moors, and Haytor, Widecombe, Houndtor Rocks and Becky Falls are all
within walking distance. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle visited Heatree
before writing “The Hound of the Baskervilles” and named it after
the coachman who brought him. For over 30 years it was used as a
school for boys with Physical and emotional disabilities and a
summer camp for city children in the summer holidays. In 1994 it was
extensively refurbished and now caters, not only for school groups
but for Church groups as well. There is a good mix of bedrooms, all
of which are en-suite. Bedrooms accommodate between 2 and 6 persons,
mostly in bunk beds. There are some disabled rooms and all rooms are
accessible to wheelchair users.
***NOTE: HEATREE DO NOT
PROVIDE TOWELS OR BEDDING FOR COTS***
‘Relax, Refresh & Renew’
The aim of the weekend is to give you an opportunity to relax and
unwind a bit, take time out of your busy schedule! To refresh
yourself in body and mind. And to renew your relationship with God
and friendships with others from the church family. We plan to have
times of worship and teaching as well as opportunities to chew over
and discuss relevant topics and issues.
Our Guest Speaker for the weekend will be Chris Spracklen, Pastor at
Martock Christian Fellowship. Married to Carol with two sons, Matt &
Jon, Chris is also a keen photographer and musician.
We shall also be having guest leaders of youth
and children's work too, so nobody is left out!
There
are indoor activities including Pool, table tennis & table football.
There are also a range of outdoor activities including a high ropes
course, kayaking, archery, abseiling, low ropes, team building
courses and orienteering. These are all supervised by qualified
instructors. There is an additional cost for these and full details
will be available nearer the time.
Of course, the weekend comes with all meals
from Friday evening meal through to Sunday lunch. Special diets are
catered for and all the meals are ‘homed cooked’. We have the
facilities to make our own drinks in the dining room after each
meal. Should you wish, it is possible to book Sunday afternoon tea
if you want to enjoy as much time at Heatree House as possible.
